We attended a conference at One Police Plaza. The NYPD laid out their plans for the holy month and shared safety tips. We also attended a separate meeting with our precinct commanders. More in-depth plans were laid out, and we made suggestions. At our request, a light will be placed on Liberty Avenue near the 80th Street station. The NYPD and COPCP will have an increased presence at local mosques and walking routes throughout the month. We thank our local precincts for visiting each mosque and listening to their concerns. Safety is a priority and shared responsibility.
When walking to and from the Mosque, be sure to walk in populated, well-lit areas, try to walk in groups, do not expose any valuables, and report any suspicious activity.
